Fosters Needed

Thank you for your interest in fostering a dog!

We can't save lives without people like you, so we truly appreciate the community for coming together to support our local shelter and dogs in need.

At this time, we are in need of foster applicants who are willing to take in dogs with one or more of the following qualifications:

  • large breed
  • behavioral issues
  • medical needs

If that is you, please submit an application soon. We would love to hear from you!

If you have previously applied and are now willing to open your home to a dog that falls under any of these qualifications, please email us at to inform us of this change.

Additional Ways to Help

We run a similar short-term emergency foster program every July called Foster the 4th. We would love to have you on our foster team then and we hope you will consider fostering with us for 2-4 weeks this July! We'll have all sizes of dogs then, too. If this sounds good and you want us to contact you then, please email:

For (remote) volunteering opportunities such as helping us create online adoption profiles for all of these dogs, please fill out our adult volunteer waiver or the under 18 volunteer waiver form. Once you’ve completed this form, a member of our team will reach out and get you plugged in!

We are also requesting donations from those who are able to give. See below for donation options-- every donation will be used to support the dogs we rescue!

If you would still like to foster an animal that doesn't fall under the categories described above, we encourage you to reach out to other organizations. Little Lion Foundation is looking for cat fosters to help LBACS clear the kitty side of their facility. Every shelter is facing similar challenges during these uncertain times and there may be a greater need for small dog fosters outside of LBACS. LA Animal Services and WAGS Westminster have been looking for emergency fosters (though we haven’t confirmed that they have a continued need). Orange County Animal Care and LA County Animal Care (including Carson, Downey, and SEAACA) have foster programs and likely need help right now as well. A new group has also just begun helping foster parents in Southern California find a foster dog with partnered rescues- check out this site, too!

Please let us know if we can answer any questions by emailing

Thank you again for your support in our mission to save shelter dogs in our community!

We hope to see you in July for Foster the 4th!

All our love,

Emily & the Live Love Team
