I need to re-home my dog. Can you take him or her into your rescue?
Maybe. We have limited space and can only take in dogs when we have foster homes available. You should check out the website below which helps owners list and re-home their pups to potential adopters in a manner much safer than a “free to a good home” listing.
I want to adopt/learn more about/meet one of your dogs. What should I do?
Awesome! You can start by fill out an adoption application. Our adoption team will reach out to talk about the pup you’re interested in.

I found an “abandoned” or lost dog. What do I do? Can you take it?
The most important thing to remember is that not all lost dogs are abandoned. You can’t tell just by how the dog looks (you know how icky you get after 2-3 days camping!). We need to give the pup’s family a chance to find their loved one and help them prevent this from happening again.
First, take pictures of the pup and note where the pup was found. You can post about this found dog on Facebook at the Lakewood and Long Beach Lost and Found Pets and the Lost & Found Pets of Long Beach Ca. Don't forget about Nextdoor and Pawboost. Make a note of the location, gender and any other information you have. Most importantly, take the dog to your local shelter to have the staff scan for a microchip and check the dog for any medical care needed.
The animal shelter is the FIRST place a distraught owner will look. The shelters are full of lovely, hard working staff and volunteers who care about the animals. It is not a bad place to take the dog and they will keep the animal safe!
The dog will be placed on a 5 day stray hold to give the owner time to find them, and if the dog is chipped and/or licensed the owner will be contacted immediately. You can put yourself down for “first rights” so that you can be there to adopt the dog as soon as it becomes available. You can ask the shelter staff for the Animal ID so you can keep track of the animal either on the shelter website or by calling.
Dogs are not euthanized immediately upon availability. This is a myth. Most dogs leave the shelter spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Taking a lost dog to the shelter is the right thing to do!
If you live in Long Beach, Cerritos, Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, and Signal Hill, your local shelter is Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS).
If you live in Bell Gardens, Bellflower, Buena Park, Downey, Lakewood, La Palma, Montebello, Norwalk, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, South Gate, and Vernon, your local shelter is Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA).
